In a major step forward for regional agri-tech, Tropical Seeds Corporation (Pvt) Ltd has joined hands with Verdesian Life Sciences – India to drive sustainable and efficient plant nutrition solutions across South Asia.
A recent meeting in Delhi, attended by Mrs. Anosha Subasinghe (Managing Director) and Mr. Kenula De Alwis (Director), alongside Mr. R.K. Goyal (Managing Director – South Asia, SEA & ANZ, Verdesian Life Sciences), marked a key milestone. Discussions centered around expanding the nutritional portfolio, with a strong focus on polymer-coated urea (N-Charge) to enhance nitrogen efficiency.
From Small to Big: Real Results
This partnership follows the “Small to Big” approach—starting with field trials and scaling up. A recent trial in Kantale, Sri Lanka, during the 2024/2025 Maha season, compared conventional urea to polymer-coated alternatives.
Key results at 80% N-Charge dosage:
* Increased bush and panicle counts
* Better plant and root growth
* Reduced empty grain ratio
* Higher yield and dry weight
These outcomes confirm the product's potential to boost productivity while reducing fertilizer input and environmental impact.
Looking Ahead
Already marketed in Sri Lanka, this coated urea technology is set to expand into DAP/TAP coatings, offering smart solutions for nutrient management. Together, we’re advancing a shared vision of innovative, efficient, and farmer-friendly agriculture across the region.
